Disney +: Germany launch known, costs and supported devices

In November 2019, in order to keep streaming providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV + out of the market, the mice group launches its own Disney + streaming service. We have all the information about costs, release date and content of the upcoming entertainment platform.

Disney +: Germany launch in 2020

Already tomorrow, a real top dog will appear on the hotly contested streaming market: On November 12, 2019, the new streaming service Disney + in America starts. In Germany, unfortunately, we have to wait longer. As the group announced via Twitter ,  Disney + will be on display in Germany until March 31, 2020 . If you want to pre-register now , you can do so at www.disneyplus.com .

Prices of the streaming portal

Price is Disney + at $ 6.99 in the monthly subscription or $ 69.99 in the annual subscription. In the Netherlands, where the portal is also starting from the 12th of November at the start, one receives the membership for the favorable price of 6.99 euro in the month / 69.99 euro in the year. (The early start in the Netherlands has probably been decided because the contents can easily appear in English there.) The German pricing model is not yet known, the costs in our neighboring country but make hope that the service with us around seven Euro per month will cost.
The comparatively low price of the portal justified Group boss Bob Iger thereby that to the start of the platform altogether less contents will be available, than with the competition. It is quite possible that the prices for the Disney Plus subscription will increase over time, as the group plans to produce numerous in-house productions for its portal (see below).
For announcement, the trailer for the offers, which will be available in Germany for streaming launch appeared.

Disney Plus: Supported devices, resolution & more

Right at the start, the streaming service should be available on numerous devices from well-known manufacturers:
  • Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV). For this purpose, an official app should appear for each device, in which can be paid by in-app purchases.
  • Google (Android smartphones & tablets, Android TV devices and Google Chromecast)
  • Microsoft (Xbox One)
  • Sony (PlayStation 4 and Smart TVs)
  • Amazon Fire
  • LG
  • Samsung
  • Other devices and smart TVs can follow.
The engineering site engadget was already able to try out the portal at a trade fair and has collected further interesting information:
  • Ultra HD, 4K, HDR and Dolby Atmos are included in the standard subscription and do not need to be paid extra (like on Netflix)
  • With an account you can create up to seven profiles on up to four devices at the same time can be utilized
  • In the mobile app, there is an offline mode, with which you can download content and later look without an internet connection
  • You can download as much content as fits in your smartphone / tablet memory
  • Paused content can be easily viewed on another device
  • Disney + will not include any R-Rated movies and series , but at most PG-13 (equivalent to FSK 12). R-rated content in America goes to the Hulu streaming service, which also belongs to Disney. We probably distribute them to Netflix and Co.

What content will Disney + offer?

In the first year, 45 newly produced series and films (25 original series, 10 self-produced films, specials) and over 400 titles from the Disney library will be available for subscription customers. These include the studio's full-length animated and animated films, including their direct-to-video sequels. In addition, there are numerous productions in which Disney has been involved since the 1940s as a production studio, including, for example, "Tron", "Flubber" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series.
A large portion of the library will also be made up of the high-profile licenses that the group has acquired in recent years. Disney owns the rights to all Pixar films, to all Lucasfilm series and films ("Star Wars", "Indiana Jones"), to all Marvel productions as well as to the film and television division of 21st Century Fox! BB
It is already confirmed that all "Star Wars" films and all 30 seasons of "The Simpsons" will be available at the start. Blockbusters such as " Frozen 2 ", " Maleficent 2: Powers of Darkness " and " Star Wars 9 " will no longer land on Netflix and Co., but directly on Disney's streaming service. In addition, there will be bonus material for almost every movie, including deleted scenes, documentaries, and audio commentary.

Blockbuster in own production

However, the biggest attraction of Disney + are the numerous films and series that are produced exclusively for the streaming portal. Already announced are Marvel real series with Falcon & Winter Soldier, with Vision & Scarlet Witch, with cult villain Loki, with Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight.
In addition, three "Star Wars" series are in the works: "The Mandalorian" about a bounty hunter, a "Rogue One" spin-off about spy Cassian Andor and an Obi-Wan-Kenobi series. Here you will find all upcoming series & films of Disney + at a glance . In five years, more than 50 original series, 120 original films, over 500 feature films and 10,000 series episodes will be on Disney Plus. That's 60 new productions each year.
